How to use your APRIS knee tape
Pre-cut for the knee. About 30 seconds to put on. Nothing to measure, nothing to cut, no experience needed.
The three things people ask us most
No — one tape, one application. There are 10 in a pack.
3 to 5 days, through showers, swimming and sweat.
Not if you soften it first. Here is the method — it takes a minute and it is the part worth reading.
Know your tape
1 — The wide band. The long strip along the bottom. It goes on first.
2 — The two arms. They come off the band, one at a time.
3 — The slit. The long opening down each arm.
Before you start
- Skin clean and dry. No cream, no oil.
- Sit or stand — whatever lets you reach your knee.
- Let your knee go loose. Don’t tense the leg.
Putting it on
Find the spot
Slide two fingers just under your kneecap. The wide band goes there.Stick the wide band
Tear the paper at the middle of the band and peel it outwards. Put the middle of the band on the front of your leg, just under your kneecap, then smooth it round each side. Snug, not tight — you should still slide a finger under it.
✓ The two arms now hang straight down your shin.
Peel one arm
Take either arm and pull its paper off. Try not to touch the sticky side.Bring it up around your kneecap
Lay it up the side of your knee, so it passes beside the kneecap and never over it. The slit lets it spread and follow the curve.
✓ Your kneecap stays bare.
Press the end onto your thigh
Lay it flat above your knee. Do not pull on it.Now the other arm
Same thing on the other side. It crosses over the first one, above your kneecap.Smooth the whole thing down
Run your hand firmly over all of it, especially the two ends and the band.Wearing it
- 3 to 5 days. Shower, swim and sweat as usual.
- After water, pat it dry. Never rub the edges.
- Itching, burning or redness? Take it off.
Taking it off
Soften it
Warm soapy water on a flannel, or baby oil rubbed over the tape. Wait one minute. You don’t have to wait for a shower.Start with an arm, at the thigh end
The band comes off last.Fold it back on itself, flat to the skin
Never lift it straight up. With your free hand, hold the skin down so it moves away from the tape. Go slowly.Sticky marks left? Baby oil, then soap.
Questions
Mine came off after a day. Why?
Almost always cream, oil or damp skin underneath. Wash, dry fully, skip the moisturiser, and press the tape down hard for 30 seconds once it is on.
An edge is starting to lift.
Trim it off with scissors. Never pull it — pulling takes the rest with it.
I have sensitive skin.
The tape is latex-free and 100% cotton. If you react easily, stick a small piece on your forearm for 24 hours first.
Do I need any experience?
No. It comes pre-cut to the shape of the knee. Nothing to measure, nothing to cut.
Do you make it for anywhere else?
Yes — wrist, elbow, shoulder, ankle and back. See the full range.
I’ve had surgery, or I have arthritis. Can I use it?
APRIS is a support tape, not a medical device, and it is not intended to diagnose, treat, cure or prevent anything. Ask your doctor first, and never put it on broken skin, wounds or a fresh scar.
